The Male Factor

A lot of things happened last Saturday as I had said it was really an eventful day. I'm not posting it all at once cause I don't want to overload one blog post with too many pictures. It's just really not enough.
While having breakfast with my sister and Lester, I got a call from my photographer friend Roland. He asked me to be a judge in a go-see for The Male Factor. I got all giddy like a school girl. Who wouldn't and How can I say no. I had been a panelist before but not in a go-see, it was for a writing workshop in college. Can you imagine the difference? The experience was really out of this world and tough. Imagine having to judge 99 boys who showed up for the go-see with their looks, body plus how they walk their sexy ass in the runway. This is not a personality test so only those who really had it in them will make it. There were five of us in the panel. We rated them with how they look with and without their shirts on. All the time while they marched without their shirts on, I just wished they didn't feel exploited or maybe I'm just too naive. They were almost naked and I know that's really how it is in a go-see. I'm a virgin with this kind of thing. I'm sorry to break your heart boys but I had to send you home. Out of the 99 gentlemen only the lucky 30 will make it to the show this March. This event is organized by Cebuano designers since they want to put the spotlight on male models.

OFFICIAL LABELS FOR The Male Factor:

Bergamo, Blue Camp, Sal Malto, Edwin Alba, Danny Booc, Harley Ruedas, Philip Tampos, Brendon Val Cenon, Lord Maturan, Wendel Quisido and Bernardo Flores.

Here Comes The Sun

The sun finally came out on Saturday. It was rather poetic since my sister Liezyl celebrated her 20th birthday and I got reunited with my bestest guy friend Lester. It was just all rainy and gloomy the previous days and the weather sometimes made me feel all depressed. It's just so awesome that Mr. Sun decided to come out in time for her birthday plus meeting up with Lester after almost three months of not talking to him. We jump started the day by eating late breakfast together in Tablea which is 3 minutes away from where we live. There's a lot of coffee shops in the metro and they're really sprouting like mushrooms. I can't complain cause that means more choices for us consumers. What I love with Tablea is that it's very Cebuano and them opening a spot in our turf ruins my diet. Tablea means cocoa in English and here in Cebu we call our chocolate drink 'sikwate'. Cocoas are also produced in the southern town of Argao hence the myth of a fairy Maria Cacao. How poor am I in story telling?! Saturday was really an eventful and busy day for me. I was awake for almost 48 hours and the zombies probably ate my brains. I can't wait to tell you what happened with the rest of my afternoon. :)

Thanks again for reading and for all the comments. I do read them. It helps keep the blues away. :)

You can turn off the sun but I'm still gonna shine

(dress is thrifted vintage, Parisian oxfords)

Changes are afoot but I won't worry my life away. Ever had that kind of feeling when words and thoughts abandon you. You know exactly how you feel but you just cannot find the right words to verbalize or express them. My thoughts are incoherent and insufficient. I decided to listen to Jason Mraz to help me feel better and to kick the blues away. It's been raining for almost two weeks now and the gloomy weather affects my mood a whole lot. The Remedy is the exact song that explains how I feel with the kind of situation I am in. Art imitates life or life imitates art. Hoping for the best. And I won't worry my life away.

PS: Thanks again to Jed Oyangoren for taking my pictures using my trusted SE C905. :)

Para-Thrilla in Manila: Paramore live in Manila!

The temperature was just all wrong, man. Manila is indeed 10x hotter than Cebu. You can burn calories just by sitting in a chair or perhaps in a cab while stuck in crazy Manila traffic. Paramore just made it all worth it. We didn't mind the burning heat, insane traffic, muscle pains just so we can get a better view of Hayley and the band. It was a great moshpit adventure. Maaan! It was sooo awesome! If you're watching a concert, it's really better to be in the front-row. That's where all the fun is although it's way better to be in the backstage. (wishful thinking)

It's sad to know that the Farro Brothers left the band last December 2010 but this is what the fans are for. The music still lives and I'm standing by the remaining members of the band. As what Hayley Williams tweeted, Paramore is (still) a band. It was more than great that me, my sister, cousin and my friend Lorac had a chance to watch them perform live minus Zac since he got hitched when the band was here. It was definitely the best thing that happened to me in 2010. Watching your favorite band perform live.

We had a short side trip in Fort Santiago, an old fortress built during the Spanish times. Nothing profound.

On the 2011 Concerts

Sometimes I wish I live in Manila since most International artist perform in the Capital City. If I had really really generous friends they would buy me VIP tickets for the concert plus the plane ride. Gosh.  I wanna be Penny Lane!

For the Month of February I'll be missing:

For the Month of March:

For the Month of May

Of couse this is Adam Levine "stripping naked for testicular awareness" for a centerfold in Cosmopolitan UK's February 2011 issue.

So tell me, which concert should I go to if I'm only gonna spend and afford for one?  :)

And if you ever get lonely just go to the record store and visit your friends. - Penny Lane

Food for Thought

Looking back at some pictures taken not too long ago made me miss Summer. Shots taken  when the entire Escalations team went out and had fun in Imperial Water Parks and Resort. Oh, how I miss happier times.

Use Somebody

(top and blazer are thrifted, wedges from Parisian, pants from Philosophy)

Pictures taken by little sister Liezyl last Wednesday on my first work day of the week. What I like about my work place is they require us to dress up from Mondays to Thursdays and dress down on the weekends.  For others it's a burden but for girls like me who love to dress up it's a sort of blessing. I make the office hallway my own runway. I may have said it before but it's entirely true that when you look good you would feel good.

Shots were also taken by my trusted Sony Ericsson C905. I really wanted to sell this phone of mine who served me for quite a good two years. This is the only phone that lasted that LONG. I had such bad lucks on previous cellphones. Imagine me losing a total of four cellular phones over the previous years. I don't know why I keep losing things at that time. Maybe I was not meant to keep them. Going back though, I want to try and use a Blackberry or an Iphone but will I really be able to let go of my SE C905? Some things are really hard to let go. It's easier said than done.

I leave you with a song from Kings of Leon. It's been on repeat in my head and lappy for weeks now.

I've been roaming around, I was looking down at all I see

Painted faces fill the places I can't reach
You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody

Someone like you and all you know and how you speak

Countless lovers under cover of the street

You know that I could use somebody

You know that I could use somebody
Someone like you
