Lost in Translation

No, I'm not wearing the same outfit for three days in a row but I just had to blog separately about last Friday night. Before you scroll down, I'd like to warn you that this is an extremely photo heavy post. I wanted to choose ten photos from Gabii sa Kabilin but dude, ten photos from one amazing cultural night won't be enough. This is our first time to join the annual Gabii sa Kabilin that promotes Cebuano heritage and culture. It would be very strangely depressing to be a stranger in your own hometown.

Photo credits still goes to my hottest BFF Jed. Big thanks to my bitchy sister Liezyl and friend since college, Ojie for the company.

I'll let the photos do the talking. Photo bombs away!

with a little help from my friends

In most days, I'm tied to my desk and pretending to work while killing deadlines. To break the monotony, my last Friday of the month was pretty BUSY.  I was surprisingly away from my desk and spent half of my day drinking two cups of cafe mocha. That makes me a caffeinated energizer bunny. There's just too many things that I do on a daily basis. So, that really makes me a multi-tasker extraordinaire. Well, except for the blog hopping which I feel kind of guilty that I have not visited my favorite blogs like I used to. Don't worry, I'll be very visible on your blogs aside from raping your twitter news-feeds.

I don't want to think that I don't have a life outside social media or this blog. I just happen to be online most of the time. Haha! Thank you to my friends who made my Friday very worthwhile. We had lunch at Simply J's as always. There's always a first time for everyone and I'm glad they love the place. I seriously think that I should have freebies from Simply J's cause I've brought so many people in their resto. I'm just kidding but if the owners can read this entry then you know how to contact me. :)

Sharing with you some photos from our Friday Lunch with Carma, Ojie and Jed. Photos are of course courtesy of JED.

casually dressed and deep in conversation

Imagine me wearing my worn out Chucks for one entire week and living up to the word dress down. Honestly,  I feel more of myself when I’m wearing Chuck Taylors as oppose to wearing the fxck me shoes. Might be because I’m vertically challenged. Killer shoes really make me feel all slutty and sexy. I mean, don’t get me wrong but I feel all high and mighty when on heels. It somehow empowers the wearer and I love the sound of the heel hitting the floor. You kind of have this runway moment when you walk down any aisle. (with matching Tal Bachman's She So High Above me playing on the background) There's a love hate relationship between my feet and my shoes. They give me a different kind of comfort and pain but I love them all the same.

I haven’t really been posting like I used to and I feel terrible that I haven't blog hopped. I've been micro blogging excessively through twitter so be careful if you click the follow button cause I swear, I'm gonna rape your news feed! I’m REALLY that busy with my online writing job that I can barely have time for anything. I kinda miss hanging out with my self. I'd like to thank my hottest bff, JED for the photos. Been pushing my luck so hard for him to create his own blog. :D

I wore this button down plaid shirt, skimpy-de leon terranova shorts for lunch with my closest friends. Will blog separately about the day itself but me first above anything else. :D

Cebu Blog Camp 2011

The Cebu blog Camp  is an event organized annually by the Cebu Bloggers of the Blog and Soul Movement which is the educating leg of the Philippine Blog Awards Inc. which has been running for already four years. This is the largest gathering of bloggers in Cebu.

THE CEBU BLOG CAMP 2011

is co-presented by

Academy for International Culinary Arts

This will be my first  Cebu Blog Camp. I've attended several writing workshops when I was still in college but I haven't had any experience of attending a blog camp. Blogging is not really new to me cause I've been writing about life lately ever since high school. It's just most recently that I started to post my daily outfits on the world wide web alongside my thoughts for the day.

These are the top five reasons on why I love the Cebu Blog Camp:
  • I'm still starstruck. The Team Head of Cebu Blog Camp is @Photoblogger and we're following each other on twitter. That only goes to show that people we look up to are also ordinary individuals.
  • I'm stoked to meet other Cebuano bloggers and meet new friends.
  • There's no registration fee for the event. You get to join because you're a blogger and you get to blog about it! :)
  •  FREEBIES!  Who doesn't love free stuffs? :)
  • Independent Fashion Bloggers are welcome!
I'm really excited for Cebu Blog Camp 2011! :)

    It's Cosmic

"..And you know, this thought crossed my mind at the time: maybe chance is a pretty common thing after all. Those kinds of coincidences are happening all around us, all the time, but most of them don't attract our attention and we just let them go by. It's like fireworks in the daytime. You might hear a faint sound, but even if you look up at the sky you can't see a thing. But if we're really hoping something may come true it may become visible, like a message rising to the surface. Then we're able to make it out clearly, decipher what it means. And seeing it before us we're surprised and wonder at how strange things like this can happen. Even though there's nothing strange about it. ..."

    monotony is sweet and numbing

Yes, blogger had been a total bitch lately. No one else can post a comment or anything substantial. It's amazing how dependent everyone is with the virtual life. Technology is suppose to enrich our lives and not replace it. You see, I'm a walking contradiction. I spend so much time with blogging and I just realized that I've been missing so much about something that I don't know what. I think people spend too much time on the internet instead of cultivating real relationships with each other, and dealing with the actual-in-the-present things. I don't really intend to make a career out of fashion. This started as a mere hobby that I'm suppose to do on my SPARE TIME. However, it's controlling my life so much. It's like an addiction with no cure. I would never forget the great things that happened to me because of this blog. There's just so many things to do and I've got so little time. I hate the feeling of knowing exactly what I want but being too afraid to go out and get it.

‎"What I want is to be needed. What I need is to be indispensable to somebody. Who I need is somebody that will eat up all my free time, my ego, my attention. Somebody addicted to me. A mutual addiction."

    Fashion needs Carma

Show some love and please vote for my friend Carmachameleon in Fashion Fast Forward Singapore Style Scout She happens to be the only Filipino who made it to the final list. Just click on this link and vote for the only blogger wearing red amongst the finalist. Voting ends until the14th of May.

I'm just so damn proud of my friend and fellow fashion blogger who made it as finalist of this said competition. To be honest, she's one of my style icons and the office hallway used to be our very own catwalk. Thank you so much for your support, chic peeps.

Sharing with you her blog entry on who her style inspiration is. :)

Have you ever been curious and asked yourself why we wear what we wear today? And how a trend becomes a trend??
One word that is in the heart of every journalist you will ever meet-ZEITGEIST. Meaning the spirits of the times. Coco Chanel andYSL became great because both were good in feeling and capturing the spirit of their times. It was suffrage back then and they liberated women from corsets. Think pants and you get it.

What about us?? What is our zeitgeist?? Am I right to say its the internet?? What with the information revolution and everyone getting connected sure you’d agree. Good and comfortable but with too much accessibility and too much noise, showing your individuality could be quite a challenge when everyone is all the same. Good thing, God endowed us with creativity and much did He endow to Marc Jacobs- the fashion genius I will always admire. In fact, the only one in the fashion industry I totally admire. Remember Nigel telling Andy in The Devil Wears Prada that Karl and Marc are the greatest artists of our times?? That’s Marc Jacobs he meant.

Youthful, vibrant and ahead of the pack, its amazing to see how MJ can masterfully play the delicate art of balancing two opposites- stylish trashy grunge, innocent rebel, cool geek, retro and modern, and his signature pile-them-altogether-yet-you-don’t-get-an-eyesore. With the exception of Karl Lagerfeld, he is the only designer in our times that can sustain season after season those ideas that had earned fashion creds big enough to have Anna Wintour and Sofia Coppola in one show! That dear is every designers coveted dream!

I am posting here photos of notable MJ Spring/Summer designs for the past 5 years (main photo is for SS2011 and below, L-R, for 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2007, respectively). Train your eyes and you’d see what I mean. Especially how these designs trickle in mass retail shops after shown in public. That is the reason why he commands a big price in the market. It’s not commercialism, he’s got to be rewarded for his talents too.

    Color me RED

I actually wore this dress on my college friends wedding last March 5th. Their wedding theme was red, a bold color that symbolizes love above all.  I didn't have a good outfit shot on the day  itself cause I wanted to concentrate on the event. For a change, I just want to celebrate a day of love with my closest friends from college and not overly think too much about taking photos of what's happening. That's what the wedding photographers are for. Who would've known that Iza and Andy would really end up in forever. I'm a sucker for marriage and weddings even if I'm a little apprehensive about the whole idea of me getting hitched. They've been together since they were kindergarten kids. And I'm not kidding. They're together for that long and everyone knew they were altar bound. I couldn't count the number of times I shed tears of joy for these two couple's unadulterated love who's now starting a family of their own.

There's definitely a reason why I didn't self-promote this nearly nationalistic dress in my social networking sites like tumblr, facebook, and chictopia. To be honest, my life revolves around my blog now. Not that I don't have a REAL life outside the virtual world but I'm now used to posting about life lately in this community. I wore the dress again today and begged my sister Liezyl to shoot me using the trusted Canon 1000D of our evil sister Richel. I'm wearing this dress so that I can contribute to Chictopia's Japan Earthquake Wear Red Wear Hope Relief Fund. It's not always about the clothes and fashion, we help the community by making a statement in what we wear.
